Recro Grief Camp is an annual weekend camp for kids ages 10-16 who have had a sibling or parent die. As families we often do not know what to do with children whom have lost their loved ones and yet they are greatly affected. When gone unattended to children may present with withdrawal, behavioral problems at home and at school, intense fear or anxiety, anger, reggression such as bed-wetting to list a few. In a fun and safe environment, kids attend various activities in both small and large groups which will all facilitate learning about healthy coping skills. These groups create an environment of support, trust and openness through educational, therapeutic and recreational activities. Campers get to interact with their peers as well as have the guidance of trained, approved Camp Counsellors and Support Staff. From previous camps, we have had requests to do something for the parents. We have heard you – starting this year we will have a session for the parents as well.
