First of, be very grateful that you have a family member or friend that cares enough for you to be suggesting that help is required. Not everybody has that. Now, no one can force you (unless you are a minor i.e under 18years old.) to get treatment of any kind. This needs to be a personal decision because the truth is, if you do not participate then it doesn’t work. The fact that the suggestion of therapy has been made is worth you going to see if this problem they are seeing can be handled in another way.
The beauty of Psychotherapy is that it provides insight from a outsiders professional perspective and give you some suggestions on a way forward. Give it a try!
